5 out of 5 stars I LOVE the AMAZING Product   August 28, 2010

I never write product reviews, but when it comes to this really amazing product, I felt compelled. So incredibly useful, makes cleaning and maintaining a clean litter box a breeze. It is super attractive, keeps the smell very under control, enviromentally freindly, and the best part....super easy!!! I may purchase another just in case something would happen to mine. Also, I have two large cats, scoop constantly and the bag system that is required has lasted me at least 8 months. I very highly recommend this product. The Litter Champ litter box is fantastic too. LOVE IT!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Makes cleaning the litter box less of a chore!   August 4, 2010

I've had the litter champ for almost two weeks now, and I love it! As someone who dreaded cleaning the litter box, bagging it up, and throwing it away all of the time, this is a MUST HAVE! It's so much easier to just scoop and drop into the container. With the Litter Champ I've been cleaning the litter boxes just about every day, which I'm sure makes for happier kitties! I have two cats, and after two weeks, the Litter Champ is not nearly half full. It smells much nicer in the basement, which is obviously due to the fact that instead of the dirty litter box sitting there it's in a nice, closed container. So if you were already a daily litter box cleaner, I can't help you out...but so far NO stink here! I also keep the little flap door locked after reading someone's post about fruit flies, just in case.

The only change I would make to this product would be some sort of handle. I have two cats, therefore two litter boxes, and it's a bit awkward to carry from box to box. I'll probably just invest in another. Also, the litter scoop hangs from a magnet on the Litter Champ intself. In theory this is great to have the scoop right there, but like all litter scoops it gets yucky, and I don't really prefer to have a dirty litter scoop hanging out in the open. I just use the litter scoop I already had with a case to hold the scoop. It's good to have some antibacterial wipes handy, because inevitably litter does sometimes get around the flap when you're depositing it into the bag. I don't see this as a big deal at all, just wipe and throw away.

So overall this product is DEFINITELY worth it, especially if you weren't the most frequent litter box cleaner like me. It's also a huge help at preventing those giant clumps that form when your kitties like to pee in the same spot every time in the litter box. Refills look pricey, but they are biodegradable and the alternative is using lots of grocery store bags, which are not. I give it two thumbs up!

2 out of 5 stars Contained Smells but Didn't Keep out Fruit Flies   July 25, 2010

The litter champ was great at keeping the litter smells inside the container. It made it really convenient to clean the litter box. Yes, the inner trap door didn't seem that sanitary, but if it kept the smells inside the container, I was okay with wiping the flap now and then with some disinfectant.

Also, the bags lasted quite a while with two cats for a non-clumping litter formula. I think I didn't have to cut the first bag until after about three weeks of using it. However, being a closed container, condensation built up and so when I cut the bag, some kind of fluid got on my hands. I was totally disgusted.

Also, I didn't even get around to cutting a second bag. One day, I opened the the lid and saw little maggots crawling around the trapdoor and surrounding surface. There were even a couple of eggs attached to the underside of the top lid. YUCK! They seemed to be fruit flies. I didn't have the bravery to open the trapdoor to see if they had gotten into the litter waste inside. I figured that if there weren't any in the body of the canister, I would just wipe up the worms and sanitize the whole thing. However, when I opened the door on the body of the canister, there were a couple of them crawling around on the floor of the container. I was repulsed, so bagged up the whole thing and threw it away. I got about a month and a half of use out of it so it was a waste of money.

All in all, it was great at controlling smells, but there was gross condensation build up inside the unit and it was infiltrated by flies. I'm just going to buy some more biodegradable waste bags and take them outside to the garbage daily.

5 out of 5 stars Kitty?! What Kitty?   July 22, 2010

My fiance and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. I bought the Champ Litter can hoping it would help take away any litter smell. We have our kitten's litter box in our bedroom, by the door. Along with her food station on the other side of the room and the last thing I wanted to smell while I was sleeping was her litter box and messes. So first thing we bought was, Miller's Cats Litter Box Enclosure from PetSmart. That thing is wonderful!!! We lined the inside just to be safe but, WOW! Definitely worth it! It looks nice...all it is, is a carpeted bench with a door for the kitty to walk through. It's easy to lift the lid (no hinges) and inside the high backed litter box fits just perfectly inside. The kitty has her privacy and it's not ugly looking! Right next to it we have the Litter Champ. Not only does it make cleaning the litter box simpler it DOESN'T SMELL! It takes a couple of weeks to a month to fill up. Just depends on how messy the litter box gets. When I have family and friends come over to visit they can not believe we even have a cat because it doesn't smell like it at all!!! I would recommend these two items together to anyone!!!
